As I have mentioned before I am a constant learner. I take in as many perspectives as possible in order to strive for a more nuanced and complete understanding of Anatomy and Human Movement. One of the books I have been reading is Sue Hitzmann’s The MELT Method. I was planning on writing a review for you so you could learn about it too. Then I came across Brooke Thomas’ terrific review AND her interview with Sue and I wanted to share it with you right away.
The MELT method is a self-treatment system that helps people get out of pain. MELT uses a super soft foam roller and small therapy balls for the feet and hands. I’ve been experimenting with it on my own and with my private clients and think it is a great practice that should be incorporated into everyday fitness. It only takes a few minutes a day. The exercises are designed to restore connective tissue, reduce pain, improve alignment, balance the nervous system and more!. That’s a tall order I know but I have been seeing these results myself AND with my private clients.
I highly recommend you try a class. Your nervous system will thank you. MELT classes are offered at local YMCAs and the Manhattan JCC on the West side.
Are you already familiar with MELT? If so, what was your experience like? Leave a comment in the section below.
